Scholarship options

2nd Chance Association scholarships support reconstructive surgery training, accredited exchanges, final FCS exams and scientific publication projects.

Beneficiaries commit to work for at least 2 years in reconstructive surgery in their country of origin after training. Candidates are responsible for finding a training position and, where needed, a work permit.

Available support

Four scholarship types

Fellowship

Plastic surgery training programme in a COSECSA, WACS or CAMES accredited institution.

Support: Round-trip air ticket plus up to USD 500 per month

Limit: Maximum 48 months

Exchange program

Rotation in a COSECSA, WACS or CAMES accredited institution.

Support: Air ticket plus up to USD 150 per week

Limit: Maximum 12 weeks

Final FCS exam

Final FCS examination for COSECSA or WACS candidates.

Support: Air ticket, visa, exam fees, graduation fees and gown

Limit: Maximum USD 2,000

Scientific publication scholarship

Research and publication support for scientific work.

Support: Research and publication fees

Limit: Maximum USD 1,000

Eligibility

Application requirements

  • Have attended at least one training workshop and be a registered member of the Association.
  • Provide a PEN or an acceptance letter for an accredited plastic surgery training programme.
  • Submit a personal statement, CV and letter of support from the programme director.
  • For scientific publication scholarships, provide a detailed project description and protocol. The scholarship must be acknowledged in the publication.
  • Provide a detailed projected budget, including personal funds and any other funding already obtained.
Scholarship agreements define the approved training institution, specialty, duration, monthly allowance or travel support, payment details and dispute jurisdiction for each beneficiary.
